The RESDINET project has been launched!

The partners of the RESDINET project (Network for novel remote sensing technologies in forest disturbance ecology) of the HORIZON EUROPE scheme, coordinated by the Institute of Forest Ecology SAS, met during the kick-off meeting held from February 20 to February 23 at our institute. This opening meeting was organized mainly to coordinate management and implementation of the tasks foreseen within each individual work package.

During the kick-off meeting, the first planned scientific workshop entitled “Advances in new sensors and data processing development related to forest disturbance ecology” was also held. The workshop was attended by 51 participants from Slovakia, Finland and Sweden. We were happy to host the European scientists doing cutting-edge research in the field of remote sensing technology application in forest disturbance ecology, including 15 in-person participants in Zvolen and 36 online participants. During the workshop, participants presented their latest research advances related to the use of remote sensing technologies to study the “Norway spruce – European spruce bark beetle” interactions. In the final day of the meeting, participants made a field trip to the Low Tatra mountains where the researchers explored their potential study plot in the mountain spruce forest.
